Hello again! Here's another quick English point.
Today's point is:
-----------------------------------------------
What time is it?
It's _____.
-----------------------------------------------
Saying the time in English is easy! But here are a few rules...
* 1:00, 2:00, 3:00...
For this we say "the hour number + o'clock". (In a casual setting you
can sometimes just say the number.)
* 1:01, 5:06, 7:09
When the minutes are 1-9, we say "the hour number + oh + minutes".
* 4:10, 10:15, 11:58
When the minutes are 10-59, we say "the hour number + the minute number".
-----------------------------------------------
Let's practice!!
What time is it?
It's 3:00. (It's three o'clock.) (In a casual setting: It's three.)
It's 12:08. (It's twelve oh eight.)
It's 9:25. (It's nine twenty five.)
------------------------------------------------
*There are other ways to ask the time besides "What time is it?" that are more polite.
You can ask "Do you know the time?" or "Do you have the time?"
**And don't forget to say "Excuse me." to get a person's attention before asking!
I hope this was helpful! See you next time!!
